UPPER ARLINGTON, Ohio -- Around 6:30am on Sunday morning, fire crews were called out to 2586 Canterbury Rd in Upper Arlington. When they arrived, they saw smoke rising from the roof and rear of the home. Once they were able to get inside the home they discovered that the fire had made its way to the basement and attic.
Jeff Smith, the home owner was able to make it out of the house with without injuries. He was examined and released at the scene. Dan Kochensparger, UA Fire PIO, tells NBC4 that a fire investigator has been called out to the scene to help determine the cause of this fire. As of now, they are still trying to gain access to the basement to make sure that the fire is out and to start looking for a cause.
Canterbury Rd will be closed between Leeds and Doncaster Rd while investigators continue searching for the cause of this fire. The Red Cross has been notified and will be out to help the home owner with any needs and services.
