COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio Attorney General Richard Cordray filed a lawsuit on Monday in Franklin County, charging a fire repair company of scamming fire victims.
The lawsuit alleges the Columbus Fire Repair (Nation’s Construction, LLC) targeted and scammed Ohioans whose homes were recently damaged by fire.
The suit charges the company and its owner, William Bridge III, with several violations of Ohio consumer law, including failure to deliver, shoddy workmanship and unfair, deceptive and unconscionable sales practices.
According to the lawsuit, Columbus Fire Repair subscribed to a news pager service that alerted it to fires throughout the city and surrounding areas. The lawsuit further states Columbus Fire Repair accepted payment from consumers’ insurance companies but left the homes in disarray.
Cordray is seeking injunctive relief, consumer restitution and civil penalties.
