MARIETTA, Ohio -- Charity workers in Marietta received a large donated item but ended up handing it over to police.
NBC 4 reported with the FAST FACTS from NBC Newschannel.
Someone donated a two-gallon metal water jug to Goodwill Industries International, Inc.
When employees opened it, they found four bags of marijuana that together equaled about a pound, according to Marietta police.
The pot has a street value of around $1,500.
Police said they don't know where the marijuana came from since it was an anonymous donation.
Police said the marijuana appears to be more than a year old and likely was donated by accident.
A local captain said he encouraged the owner to come claim the donated jug.
"If anybody would like to come in and claim this cooler, which is probably an antique, we would love to have them come in, and we'll be more than happy to try and get that cooler returned to them," Marietta Police Captain Jeff Waite said.
