COLUMBUS, Ohio -- A local mom just launched a new web site that helps businesses owned by moms connect with new customers and other "mompreneurs."
It's www.marketmommies.com and it links moms in business with moms who shop.
Local mom Toni Bloomfield came up with the idea.
"If you have a mom business, you can come on and list your business for free and the goal of the site is to link you with shoppers," she said.
In just a month, Bloomfield said more than 225 "mompreneurs" have joined the web site.
It's an online directory of mom-based business, mostly web-based from around the country and a few from around the world.
Bloomfield is a stay-at-home mom with a background in marketing and saw a need for a web site to connect moms.
"There are so many wonderful ideas that moms have, and they think, 'Wouldn't it be great if somebody made this?' And then they think, 'Why can't I make this?' So this web site is geared toward them," she said.
The web site offers businesses on everything from home goods and specialty foods to handmade children's clothing, accessories and baby items.
