MIDDLETOWN, Ohio -- You shouldn't take candy from a baby - or steal it from police, as an Ohio man is accused of doing.
Police in the southwest Ohio city of Middletown arrested Derek Kidd on theft charges after, they say, he tried to walk out of the station with two of their candy bars and a toboggan cap.
Police Maj. Mark Hoffman says Kidd and his girlfriend had been released Wednesday after disorderly conduct arrests and were asking passers-by to use a cell phone. He invited them to use a police phone.
Hoffman says as they left, an officer spotted a police-logo cap under Kidd's cap. Police say during a patdown, they found two candy bars and two used syringes Kidd had pocketed.
Kidd, 32, was being held pending a court appearance Friday. No attorney was listed.
