DELAWARE COUNTY, Ohio -- I-71 southbound has totally reopened after a fatal accident occurred north of the State Route 36/37 exit early Saturday.

According to the Delaware County 911 center, the accident occurred at 4:37am Saturday on I-71 between the Berkshire Road and N. Galena Road overpasses.
Two vehicles, a semi and an SUV, were involved in the accident. Emergency personnel say both vehicles were engulfed in flames when they arrived to the scene.
The investigation showed that an SUV going the wrong way in the southbound lanes hit a tractor trailer head-on. The SUV driver, Ivan Diaz De Leon, 23, was pronounced dead at the scene. The semi driver received non-life-threatening injuries. The collision caused a large diesel spill that took hours to clean up.
The final lane closure cleared in the northbound lanes around 2pm.
