MARYSVILLE, Ohio -- Some residents have been worrying about snow after Marysville announced plans to limit snow removal because of budget shortfalls.
NBC 4 has more on where it stands.
No department was spared, including the city's service department, which is responsible for snow removal.
The department lost 90 percent of its overtime budget.
Now, with a budget of only $5,000 for overtime, snow removal will be slow.
Crews will be forced to work only during normal business hours between 7:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.
During November's election, Marysville residents voted down an income-tax rate increase, which means the city is losing $4 million annually.
"I didn't know that it was going to have an impact on the city's snow removal or county snow removal. My concern is that I should have been better informed," said Marysville resident Donna Olsen.
As news travels across Marysville, residents were not happy about the new snow removal policy, which will concentrate first on the main arteries and then side streets.
"I don't think that's going to go over with them very much. I know people want, when they wake up in the morning, that the snow is gone," resident Carol Raymond said.
Of course in the event of a snow emergency declared by Governor Strickland, Marysville, like other Ohio cities, will be eligible for federal money to help pay for the cleanup.
