NEWARK, Ohio – The Licking County Clerk of Courts warns residents of a scam involving their office.
Clerk of Courts, Gary Walters tells NBC 4 only one incident was reported to the clerk’s office, but it is unknown how many people fell victim to the caller.
The victim received a call on Tuesday night between 5 and 6 p.m., the clerk’s office closes at 4:30 p.m. The mother of the victim told Walters her son received the call from someone who identified themselves as working for the Clerk of Courts and asked for bank account information.
Anyone who receives calls like this should report them to the Clerk of Courts at (740) 670-5794, or the Licking County Sheriff’s Office at (740) 670-5555.
