COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Columbus police were investigating after a parent allegedly posted a threatening message about a local school on his or her Facebook page.
NBC 4 reported with the FAST FACTS.
A parent of a Horizon Elementary School student posted there would be a mass shooting at the school Thursday, according to police.
The post was made Wednesday, police said.
Officers took a report at the school at 6000 Renner Rd. and were investigating the alleged threat and contacting the parent who allegedly posted it.
The school is part of Hilliard City Schools.
CPD said there was a possibility criminal charges would be filed in the incident.
Hilliard City Schools Spokesperson Carrie Bartunek told NBC 4 the school filed the report with Columbus police.
The district said safety and security is the district's No. 1 priority and it takes threats very seriously.
The incident is unacceptable and could not be ignored, she said.
Bartunek confirmed the message was believed to have been posted by a parent of a student.
She said the school likely would send a letter home to parents with students.
She said the situation now is in CPD's hands.
Officers also checked the school to ensure nothing suspicious was in the building or happening.
No more immediate information was available.
