WASHINGTON COURT HOUSE, Ohio -- A check for $50,000 sits in the display case at Miami Trace Elementary School in Washington Courthouse.
One entry per day was allowed in the Box Tops for Education's Big Clip sweepstakes and one woman entered Miami Trace Elementary School every single day.
Her hard work paid off when General Mills awarded the Washington Court House school its Grand Prize of $50,000.
The school celebrated at an assembly in the gym, where students and teachers cheered and danced.
Principal Julie Reisinger said she'll consult with students, staff and parents about how to use the money, but she hopes to use much of it for instructional materials, technology equipment and student incentives.
"We definitely want to support student incentives. We reward children for academic success, for positive behavior at school, so we definitely want to keep those things rolling."
Box Tops for Education Manager Eric Jensen said the program received 300,000 entries nationwide. He said that seeing students so excited makes him feel really good about his job.
11-year-old Daria Thomas said, "I think that it's really great to go toward a whole bunch of stuff that our school needs, like more supplies and stuff."
Two first place prizes of $25,000 went to schools in Milford, CT and LaGrange Park, IL.
Box Tops for Education was created by General Mills in 1996 and helps thousands of schools earn cash to keep educational programs running.
