COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The Ohio State University police department issued a crime alert to the campus community Thursday.

According to police, a female OSU staff member reported being physically assaulted during a robbery attempt around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.
The incident happened in the southwest corner of W. 12th Avenue and Cannon Drive parking lot, west of the Ohio State University Medical Center.
The victim said she was attacked from behind by a male suspect who tried to take her purse from her.
The suspect was described as a black male who is about 5 feet 7 inches to 8 inches tall. He has short or shaved hair and medium build. The suspect’s approximate age is unknown.
He was wearing a puffy black jacket with fur on the hood and black pants at the time of the attempted robbery.
