AKRON, Ohio -- A former state judge in Ohio has pleaded guilty in federal court to two counts of fraud for getting a sham loan from a business executive with cases before her court.
Former Mahoning County Common Pleas Judge Maureen Cronin of Youngstown entered the pleas Tuesday and faces sentencing Feb. 23.
She admitted getting an interest-free, no-payment, no-collateral $18,000 loan from an executive with more than 50 civil lawsuits before her court.
Cronin was elected to the bench three times and quit in 2007, two months before her second drunken driving conviction.
