Christmas Show Opens Minus High-Wire Act

CINCINNATI, Ohio -- High-wire acts have been cut from an Ohio church's annual Christmas program a year after a woman died from a fall while performing a high wire act in the show.

Xavier University graduate student Keri Shryock fell about 25 feet to a concrete floor while performing an aerial act on opening night of the 2008 show. The Toledo native died later at a hospital.

The Crossroads Community Church in Cincinnati decided to perform the show again this year without the high wires. The show was scheduled to open Thursday night.

Investigators said a malfunction occurred with 23-year-old Shryock's harness.
