COLUMBUS, Ohio -- There were no injuries, but a fire on the far West Side of Columbus Thursday night did extensive damage to a family's home.
NBC 4 reported with the FAST FACTS.
Investigators said they believe a bucket of ashes cleaned out from a home fireplace was emptied too close to the home's attached garage.
The smoldering sparks started a fire that did extensive damage.
The homeowners of a two-story house on McPartland Court were in the house when they became aware of the smoke from the fire, which started near the attached garage and eventually spread to the attic.
The couple escaped safely and called for help.
The Red Cross was called to help the occupants with a place to stay.
