JOHNSTOWN, Ohio -- A Licking County man fatally shot his younger sister and a neighbor before attempting to shoot his younger brother Friday afternoon, according to deputies.
NBC 4 reported with the facts from on-scene authorities.
Investigators were called to Jug Street Road NW on reports of a double-shooting at 3:27 p.m. Friday.
Authorities said Jerome Boyd Marcum, 69, was the shooter.
He lives at 12026 Jug Street Rd.
His sister, (Sonya) Sue Marcum's, address is 12020 Jug Street Rd.
Their neighbor, John Walsh, of 12023 Jug Street Rd. was talking to Sue, when Jerome shot Walsh and Sue, authorities said.
Walsh, 53, was pronounced dead in Sonya's front yard.
Sue, 61, ran into her garage, and Jerome followed her in and shot her in the head, according to investigators.
Sue was transported by medical helicopter to Licking Memorial Hospital. She died at the hospital. The transport happened at about 4:30 p.m.
Jerome, 69, drove to 14201 Vance Road in Knox County and attempted to shoot 63-year-old Homer Clarence Marcum, his brother, authorities said.
The firearm did not discharge, and Clarence was able to disarm and subdue his older brother until deputies arrived, according to deputies.
Jerome was arrested around 4:30 p.m.
Apparently, Sue and Jerome had a dispute over a water well their homes shared, and Sue might have shut off the water to Jerome's residence. That might have triggered the shootings.
Jerome admitted to the killings and was being held in the Licking County Jail on two counts of murder, Licking County sheriff’s office detectives said.
There was a call to the 12020 address in September related to a domestic-violence complaint, authorities said.
Authorities told NBC 4 it was a double-fatal shooting shortly after 6 p.m.
NBC 4 initially reported the victim with the gunshot wound to the head was male.
No more immediate information was available.
