CINCINNATI, Ohio -- A Cincinnati state representative is having his public salary garnished for the second time in three years for failing to pay an outstanding debt.
A judge says state Rep. Dale Mallory, a Democrat from a well-known political family, owes just under $20,000 on a home loan taken over by a Youngstown-area debt serving company in 1996. The state was ordered to continue to garnish Mallory's wages until the debt to CadleRock Joint Venture is repaid.
Mallory, whose father and brother both preceded him in the Legislature, argues that he already paid off the loan on a house he lost to foreclosure. He said he is being victimized by the terms of the CadleRock deal.
A CadleRock spokesman says the company has offered Mallory a variety of payment options for paying off the debt but he has refused to cooperate.
