LEBANON, Ohio -- A grand jury has indicted a former food service worker at a southwest Ohio jail for allegedly having sex with an inmate in the jail's walk-in food cooler.
A prosecutor's spokesman said Monday that a Warren County grand jury indicted 24-year-old Samantha Shannon Dec. 18. Shannon was charged with a felony count of sexual battery.
Prosecutor's spokesman Matthew Nolan says Shannon no longer works at the Warren County jail but was employed by a company that contracts to provide inmate meals.
Shannon was reached at her home Monday and said she had no comment.
Chief Deputy John Newsom said the allegations emerged in recent weeks when corrections staff began hearing rumors that Shannon and the inmate were sexually involved.
