COLUMBUS, Ohio – Police have charged a mom with a felony charge of complicity to escape when she took her son to face burglary charges on Tuesday.
Authorities tell NBC4, 40-year old Rebecca Gardner has been charged with complicity to escape, a felony of the second degree, when she brought her son, 17-year old Shakil Gardner to court on Tuesday to face a burglary charge.
Reports say when Rebecca was informed the court was going to hold Shakil, she whispered something into his ear and he ran out of the court room. Rebecca blocked the doorway to aid in his escape.
The Franklin County Sheriff’s Department filed the charge against Rebecca and Columbus Police arrested her early Thursday morning.
