COLUMBUS, Ohio -- A single-vehicle crash on Olentangy River Road south of Linworth Road on Saturday afternoon led responding rescue workers to evacuate residents of a nearby home.
The car went off the road and sheared off a gas meter, resulting in leaking natural gas.
Officials from Columbus and Worthington said it was too risky to start the vehicle -- which could have sparked an explosion.
As a precautionary measure, officials left the car in place and evacuated the family in the nearest home until gas company employees could arrive to turn off the broken line.
No one sustained serious injuries.
