CHILLICOTHE, Ohio -- A 26-year-old Chillicothe man was pronounced dead at the scene of a crash Sunday morning just before 8 a.m. after his car went out of control on railroad tracks, hit a utility pole and rolled over.
Chillicothe police say that Derrick Cyrus was going at a high rate of speed, southbound on South Paint Street.
His Chevy Cobalt went across the railroad tracks near 11th Street, when it went airborne, and the driver lost control.
The vehicle struck the utility pole and rolled, ejecting Cyrus from the vehicle.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash is still under investigation by the Chillicothe Police Department and the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
