DELAWARE, Ohio -- Smoke detectors alertdc a Delaware family to a fire in their home early Monday, aiding their safe escape.
Delaware fire responded to a reported house fire on the 200 block of North Sandusky Street just before 2 a.m. Monday.
Flames were visible from the exterior of the 150-year-old home when crews arrived, according to Delaware Fire Chief John Donahue. The fire extended outside the home’s fireplace chimney.
Fire crews extinguished the blaze by 2:30 a.m. and were able to limit the damage.
Damage was estimated at $15,000.
No injuries were reported from the incident.
The American Red Cross assisted the displaced residents.
