JOHNSTOWN, Ohio -- Flames were coming through the roof when fire crews arrived at a Johnstown business shortly after 5 a.m. Tuesday.
NBC 4 reported with the FAST FACTS.
Several fire departments were called to Alliance Carpet Cushion at 143 Commerce Blvd. at about 5:24 a.m.
Employees were evacuated from the building.
The fire was contained within minutes.
An on-the-scene fire chief said the company typically has at least one fire per year because of the product manufactured there: carpet padding.
Apparently, recycled foam rubber is chopped and metal shavings end up in the mix. When the chopped foam is heated, the heated metal shavings and foam can create a spark.
No one was injured, and the building suffered some damage but was not destroyed.
Alliance Carpet Cushion officials declined to comment.
