COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The Franklin County Grand Jury has returned a two-count indictment on 40-year-old Rebecca Gardner.
Gardner allegedly helped her son escape from Franklin County Juvenile Court Tuesday, Dec. 22.
In a release issued by Franklin County Prosecuting Attorney Ron O’Brien, Gardner brought her son to Franklin County Juvenile Court to appear in front of a magistrate on three charges.
During the hearing, the magistrate ordered Gardner’s son, 17-year-old Shakil Gardner, to be remanded into custody.
Shortly after, the teen fled the courtroom, and Gardner allegedly blocked court personnel from attempting to catch her son.
Gardner has been indicted on one count of escape, a felony of the second degree, and one count of obstructing justice, a felony of the third degree.
She was arrested Thursday, Dec. 24. Arraignment was set for Monday, Jan. 11.
