COLUMBUS, Ohio-- Twenty crews will welcome the new year on the roadways of the 8 counties in ODOT's 6th district. The staffing levels are based on the premise that there will be dropping temperatures and only a little snowfall. An ODOT press release indicates they'll be keeping an eye on moisture on roadways, ramps and bridges to prevent icy spots.
ODOT will offer a special midnight “traffic tweet” on travel conditions along interstates and major highways in the state’s six major metropolitan centers tonight.
Using the free website Twitter.com, drivers in Akron, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Columbus, Dayton and Toledo will be able to use their cell phones or wireless internet connections on New Year’s Eve to check on their routes home before they get behind the wheel.
