TOLEDO, Ohio
Federal prosecutors in Ohio say they've charged more than a dozen people with bilking the government out of thousands of dollars intended to help victims of hurricanes Katrina and Rita.
Indictments released Thursday allege 15 people from Toledo stole a total of $100,000 from the Federal Emergency Management Agency. Each faces one count of theft of government property.
The U.S. Justice Department says the 15 people called FEMA's hot line for victims and gave false names and addresses so they could get the money. It says three received at least $15,000.
If convicted, each faces up to 10 years in prison.
