COLUMBUS, Ohio -- A man was killed in an overnight accident after a truck crashed into a tree.
NBC 4 reported with the FAST FACTS Tuesday.
The Franklin County sheriff’s office continued to investigate a single-vehicle fatal crash that happened at about 2:28 a.m. Tuesday.
The accident happened on the Interstate 270 eastbound ramp to Interstate 71 northbound in Jackson Township on the city's South Side.
A 2005 Chevy pickup truck exited I-270 EB to I-71 NB, lost control, drove off the left side of the roadway and struck a tree, according to deputies.
A 41-year-old male was transported to Grant Medical Center by Med-Flight.
He was pronounced dead shortly after his arrival at the hospital.
The driver was the only person in the vehicle at the time of the crash.
The freeway ramp was closed during the crash investigation. It was reopened shortly before 5 a.m.
The male's identity was not released immediately pending family notification.
It remained unknown whether alcohol and/or drugs were factors in this crash.
The crash remained under investigation.
