TOLEDO, Ohio
Ohio wildlife officials say two men have been ordered to pay $13,000 for illegally taking white-tailed deer from a park near Toledo.
The state said Tuesday that it is the largest fine issued since a new law went effect last year that allows Ohio to seek bigger penalties for illegally harvesting wildlife.
Twenty-year-old Justin Angles of Fostoria and 20-year-old Daniel Mahoney of Akron both pleaded no contest to charges of taking a deer by illegal means and illegal possession of deer parts.
Both were students at the University of Toledo.
