COLUMBUS, Ohio -- High winds helped fuel a three-alarm fire on the city's North Side overnight.
NBC 4's Tom Brockman reported with the FAST FACTS.
NBC 4 was first on the scene as a massive fire destroyed an entire motel.
Several guests were rescued as flames raced through Motel 6 at Morse and Sinclair roads.
Fire crews were called to the scene just before 11 p.m.
Firefighters fought the blaze from the ground and on ladders.
The high winds fueled the fire.
Electrical transformers exploded, one after another, and escalated the situation.
Firefighters went door-to-door and woke Motel 6 guests.
Some second-story guests were rescued by ladder.
The fire was contained around midnight Thursday.
All guests escaped the fire unharmed.
One firefighter was taken to Riverside Methodist Hospital for a minor injury.
Fire officials said it looks to have been an electrical fire, but Columbus fire arson investigators will continue to investigate the scene.
The state fire marshal ruled the fire as accidental Tuesday, Feb. 17, and the cause as a lightening strike.
