Man Critical After Shooting On The City's West Side

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Police are investigating a shooting and searching for a suspect late Friday afternoon.

Specific details are still developing, but the shooting occurred at a home in the 400 block of West Rich Street at about 4:45 p.m., NBC 4 reported.

According to initial reports, a woman called police and said that someone knocked on the door of a home where she and her boyfriend live. When her boyfriend answered the door, she said, someone shot him.

The victim was taken to Mt. Carmel Hospital West in critical condition. He has been identified by police as Douglas T. Shirley, 21.
