CENTRAL OHIO -- Three-year-old Matthew Barr has brain cancer.
Many of you likely remember Matthew who has been seen on First At 4 and NBC 4's special, Stand Up To Cancer.
Matthew's parents, Jeremie and Jennifer, of Sunbury are hopeful but received some bad news last month.
After months of surgeries, chemotherapy and other treatments, they learned Matthew's cancer returned and has spread into his spine and brain ventricles.
Matthews family found out about the cancer when he was 15 months old.
"He had a big head, but a lot of kids have a big head, so we didn't think anything of that. He wasn't crawling or walking by 15 months, but all kids develop differently so we didn't think it was going to be anything major," Jennifer said.
The Polar Bear Plunge For Cancer is a fund-raiser for Matthew, his family and his medical expenses.
The breakfast and registration was set for 10 a.m. Saturday, March 14, at Caribbean Jerks, 1262 East Powell Rd., Lewis Center.
Attendees will head out to Alum Creek State Park for a noontime jump into the frigid water.
Registration is $50 per person.
