Apartments Closed After Walkway Collapse

»  Comments | Post a Comment

REYNOLDSBURG, Ohio -- A hearing could decide the fate of a home for scores of Reynoldsburg residents -- after a walkway collapse prompted the city to take a closer look at an apartment complex.

The incident occurred at the White Birch Crescent apartment complex and approximately 180 residents were forced out. Now, an environmental court judge could close the doors permanently, NBC 4's Lauren Diedrich reported.

All parties involved met with environmental court Judge Harland Hale and agreed to keep the complex closed until a decision could be made on what to do with it.

The complex's lender 111 Debt said it is filing a foreclosure against the building's owners six ventures. Pending the foreclosure, 111 Debt will be responsible for clean up.

The Reynoldsburg city attorney said he does not know what, if any, recourse renters have.
