Police: K-9 Finds Heroin In Truck's Engine

Authorities in two Central Ohio counties said a K-9 sniffed out a record about of heroin last weekend.

CENTRAL OHIO -- Authorities in two Central Ohio counties said a K-9 sniffed out a record about of heroin last weekend.

The Fayette and Madison County Joint Drug Unit pulled over a Budget rental truck on Interstate 71 south near the Fayette and Madison County lines shortly after midnight Sunday morning.

Officials said K-9 Kobe found 4.5 pounds of heroin that was concealed inside the engine.

Detectives also found money in the vehicle.

The operator of the vehicle, 72-year-old Salvador Velaquez from San Diego was charged with possession of heroin, a first-degree felony.

Investigators said the drug's street value is more than $200,000.
