BELLEFONTAINE, Ohio -- The head of an Ohio school district says a fourth-grade teacher accused of working as a prostitute on the side has resigned.
Bellefontaine Superintendent Larry Anderson says 35-year-old Amber Carter submitted her resignation last week, and he expects the school board to approve her decision at its regular meeting Monday.
Carter was arrested Feb. 10 in a motel parking lot. Authorities say she advertised her sex services online using a school computer and agreed to meet a man who was working undercover for the Logan County sheriff's office.
Officials say Carter took a half-day of sick leave from Western Intermediate School to make the appointment. She has pleaded not guilty to a charge of prostitution; a pretrial meeting is set for March 3.
