COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Officials are offering a reward for tips in an aggravated robbery that is actually three crimes in one.
According to police, security video was taken showing a man who, along with others, may have robbed a home in the Madison Township area, NBC 4's Mike Jackson reported.
The man on the security video is seen using a stolen credit card at a gas pump.
"One of the items that was taken was a credit card. Also, the family 2007 Ford Edge was stolen out of the garage. It was parked in the garage. They found the keys, took the car and later on that evening, the car ended up being involved in an accident and the suspects fled from the vehicle," said Columbus Police Detective Gerald Milner.
The suspect also made an additional purchase using the stolen credit card inside a Speedway gas station at College and Livingston on Jan. 4.
"A lot of time, thieves will use stolen credit cards at the gas pump because that lets them know if the card is still active. If it's not active, they will dispose of it. If it's not, from there, they immediately start making purchases," Milner said.
The suspect is described as a black man in his late 20s with medium to light-skinned complexion. He is about 5 feet 10 inches tall with a medium build.
A $2,000 cash reward was offered for tips that lead to an arrest and or conviction in this case, and you don’t have to give your name.
If you have a tip, call 614-645-TIPS or text a tip to CRIMES with the keywords TIP125 or CMH.
