ASHVILLE, Ohio -- Police were at a local high school Monday morning after a threat of violence.
NBC 4 reported with the FAST FACTS.
Teays Valley High School worked with Ashville police and other law-enforcement agencies to ensure students' safety.
A message written in a boys' restroom stall Monday, Feb. 9, warned the school "would be shot up on Feb. 23," school spokeswoman Julie Lazzara, said.
The school sent a letter home to families that explained the situation and told parents there would be a strong police presence at the school Monday.
About 58 percent of the high school's 1,200 students weren't in school Monday, Lazzara said.
Lazzara said police presence was set to continue Tuesday, but the number of on-hand officers would be lower.
The school wanted officers to be available to ensure students' sense of security and so students could ask questions.
No one has been charged in the incident.
