LORAIN, Ohio
Former Ohio State basketball player Jamar Butler has pleaded no contest to possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
Lorain Municipal Court records show that Butler was fined $150 and had his driver's license suspended for six months on Feb. 17.
Butler finished his four-year college career by helping Ohio State win the NIT in April. He was also a starter on the Buckeyes squad that lost to Florida in the 2007 NCAA championship game.
A Lorain Police Department report says an officer noticed the smell of marijuana coming from inside Butler's parked car. The report says officers searched the car, finding three bags of marijuana.
Butler was named Ohio's top high school basketball player in 2004. He now plays professional basketball in Turkey for Mutlu Aku Selcuk Universitesi.
Butler does not have a listed telephone number in Ohio and could not be reached for comment Tuesday.
