Tougher Penalties Proposed For Collecting Bodily Substances

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The case of Alan Patton certainly made headlines. He's the man accused of collecting urine from restrooms in Gahanna and Hilliard, then drinking it.

That caught the attention of judges and legislators when there were not strict guidelines on laws concerning the disturbing act.

Senator Jim Hughes introduced legislation today that would make a first offense of collecting a bodily substance without privilege a misdemeanor, and any previous or future offense of this nature a felony.

That would carry a maximum 1 year prison term and a fine of up to 25 hundred dollars.
