COLUMBUS, Ohio -- CPD officers asked a man whether he heard shots early Thursday then realized the man might have been hit.

Columbus police were called to the scene of a possible shooting off Shanley Drive near Karl Road on the city's North Side.
Officers responded to a report of shots fired in the area a little after 4 a.m., according to police.
As officers were driving up Shanley Drive, they asked a walking man if he heard anything, and the individual pointed to a nearby apartment complex.
Officers noticed blood on the individual’s shirt and asked whether he was shot. He said, "Maybe."
Authorities told NBC 4 the man was wounded and was transported to Grant Medical Center with a possible a gunshot wound.
CPD continued to investigate the incident.
