LAKEMORE, Ohio -- Police in northeast Ohio say they shot a man in the head after he killed his wife in her home and held the couple's 4-year-old son hostage for several hours.
Lakemore Police Chief Kenneth Ray says a SWAT officer shot 32-year-old Daniel Tice at least once around 10:40 last night after Tice made a move toward his shotgun.
The son was unharmed.
Ray says officers entered the suburban Akron home several hours into the standoff and found the body of Tice's 28-year-old wife Brandi, who had been shot.
Tice was taken to an undisclosed Akron hospital.
The standoff began around about 3:30 p.m., when officers responded to a report of a domestic dispute.
Ray says Brandi Tice recently told her husband she wanted a divorce.
