GROVE CITY, Ohio -- Columbus Police SWAT, along with members of the FBI, arrested 20-year-old Charles Harris Saturday morning.
Harris is a suspect in connection with five violent check cashing robberies and sexual assaults throughout Central Ohio. Harris was staying at the Knights Inn Motel in Grove City. FBI Special Agent Harry Trombitas said three firearms were found in the room with Harris. He will be transported where he can be interviewed by authorities and then taken to the Franklin County Jail where he will await a court appearance.
In the motel room with Harris at the time of his arrest was 19-year-old Geralanda S. Brown. Brown was arrested and charged with Obstructing Official Business. Investigators believe that Brown hid Harris for several days, knowing he was wanted by law enforcement officials. Brown is not believed to have been involved with any of the robberies.
Also arrested Saturday was Freddie Boyd Darling, 27, of Columbus, who charged with Accessory after the Fact. Darling was arrested by SWAT officers and the FBI Task Force at 1114 Urana Avenue, Columbus. Investigators said they believe Darling served as the getaway driver in each of the robberies.
