COLUMBUS, Ohio -- A young man was arrested Monday after police said he didn't pull over for a traffic stop.
NBC 4's Tanya Hutchins reported with the FAST FACTS.
Worthington police started to pursue the PT Cruiser in Worthington around 1:15 p.m. The pursuit ended in the area of Hollister Street and Bethel Road on the city's Northwest Side close to 1:30 p.m.
Police said PT Cruiser hit several vehicles on state Route 161 and U.S. Route 23 while police were attempting the stop.
Authorities arrested 23-year-old Zachary Gaiser on Bethel after he led police on a several-mile pursuit and fled on foot. He fled with his 17-year-old girlfriend.
CPD also was involved in the arrest.
Police didn't find anything suspicious in the vehicle and at first said the couple's reaction to the pull over was "senseless."
Police said the teen girlfriend was a runaway and the couple took the car from the girl's grandmother along with some cash.
"It was a little scary," witness Jodi Vanzile said. "We heard helicopters. And the next thing we looked, we had a ton of cop cars on the street, cops running through the yard with his gun drawn."
Gaiser faces a felony charge of fleeing, police said. Gaiser already had an outstanding warrant for several traffic violations.
