WASHINGTON -- All those cute kids and silly pets on YouTube will have to make room for Ohio's John Boehner and other members of the U.S. House and Senate.
Congress is launching official YouTube channels where lawmakers can create and control videos of floor speeches, hearings or ribbon-cuttings.
The goal is to imitate President-elect Barack Obama's success in using the Internet to connect with people during his election campaign as well as his Saturday radio addresses.
So far, only a few lawmakers are using the new congressional sites, though House Minority Leader Boehner lists 97 videos, including one introducing the new YouTube "House hub." Boehner says he and his colleagues are big fans of the video Web site.
