COLUMBUS, Ohio -- CPD continued to investigate an overnight shooting that sent a young man to the hospital with serious injuries.
NBC 4's Tom Brockman reported with NEW INFORMATION Wednesday morning.
The situation started around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday on the city's Northeast Side.
Police responded to reports of a shooting off Charlotte Drive.
When officers arrived on the scene, they found 19-year-old Christopher Butler shot in the face and the upper chest with a small-caliber firearm. He was rushed to Grant Medical Center in critical condition.
Officials said Butler might have been a carjacking victim. They also said the victim and suspect, 19-year-old Chaz White, know each other.
CPD found Butler's vehicle east of Dublin Granville Road. The vehicle was found running and with its lights on. No one was inside the vehicle.
Police said Butler identified White as the shooter.
White was arrested and charged with felonious assault about an hour after officers found Butler with his gunshot wounds.
