COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Central Ohioans should expect a cold morning, clouds to thicken this afternoon and a warmer afternoon.
Storm Team 4 Meteorologist Marshall McPeek is calling for early morning temps well below zero, clouds thickening during the afternoon and late-afternoon temps in the low 20s today.
Mostly cloudy skies, temps slowly rising into the upper 20s and holding steady, winds and scattered snow showers are in tonight's forecast.
Arctic air has turned Central Ohio into a deep freeze. Many places reporting early morning temperatures of -10 to -15 or colder. Winds have calmed a bit, thankfully. The wind chill advisory was scheduled to expire at 10 a.m.
With some sunshine this morning, temperatures will slow start to climb. We'll be in the low 20s this afternoon. As a "warm" front moves into the region, the temperatures will climb a little bit more in the evening then hold steady during the overnight hours. A cold front will push through Sunday morning and temps will begin to fall again during the day. Snow showers are likely with the front as well. Most areas will only get an inch or so as it passes.
