COLUMBUS, Ohio -- A woman frantically called 911 for help, but before she could get it, she was shot and killed.
The shooting occurred on Belcher Drive at about 1 p.m. Sunday, NBC 4's Lauren Diedrich reported.
During the phone call to 911, the woman told the dispatcher that a man was threatening her at her apartment. Her neighbor, Veronica Byrd said she heard the commotion from her apartment.
"I was in my bedroom and I heard, I want to say, five or six shots ring out," Byrd said.
Police said the victim, 48-year-old Kathy Bryant was killed on the front steps of her apartment.
According to Columbus police Detective Pat Dorn, he is filing a charge of one count of murder against 22-year-old Tyrone Scales in connection with Bryant's death.
A warrant has been issued for Scales' arrest, and police said he is considered armed and dangerous.
Dorn said Scales' was known around the Belcher Drive neighborhood and that he knew the victim.
