COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Inside Edition, with Deborah Norville, will premiere on NBC 4 (WCMH-TV) on Monday, January 26 from 4:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. The newsmagazine will become part of NBC 4’s evening news line-up that starts with First at 4 with Ellie Merritt, 4 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. and continues after Inside Edition with NBC 4 at 5, 5:30 and 6 p.m. newscasts.
“We are delighted to be adding Inside Edition to our strong programming line-up. Inside Edition’s award winning product, which includes hard hitting investigations and relevant newsmaker interviews, is the perfect compliment to our highly rated local newscasts,” said Rick Rogala, NBC 4 Vice President & General Manager.
Inside Edition is in its 21st season as television’s longest running, top-rated and most-honored syndicated newsmagazine, building upon a successful season in which the show made headlines, received industry accolades and, once again, ranked in the top-10 first-run syndicated programs, a distinction it’s held for the past 20 years.
Anchored by veteran newswoman Deborah Norville since 1995, and backed by a dedicated staff of correspondents and producers, the daily newsmagazine has built its enduring success by presenting a compelling mix of hard-hitting investigations, exclusive newsmaker interviews and human-interest stories, as well as celebrity and pop culture features.
Norville, the series’ on-air core, is a two-time Emmy Award winner actively involved in all aspects of the broadcast. Working with her is an experienced team of broadcast journalists, overseen by Executive Producer Charles Lachman, with Co-Executive Producer Esther Pessin, Managing Editors Kevin Harry and Richard Bamberger, and Senior Producers Peter Herdrich and Brian Hendel.
Inside Edition was the first television news organization in the country to be quoted on the Associated Press and other national media with an eyewitness account of the Miracle on the Hudson River. The US Airways jet descended from the sky into the Hudson in front of their national headquarters and Inside Edition producers’ eyewitness accounts of the flight crew’s heroics were broadcast within minutes all over the country. Inside Edition viewers were the first to see the footage of the plane in the water with the flight crew safely evacuating them to the wing of the plane.
One of Inside Edition’s best-known elements is its award-winning investigative unit, headed by Senior Producer Bob Read and Senior Investigative Correspondent Matt Meagher. Their work combines extensive research and surveillance, as well as hard-hitting interviews. Inside Edition’s Investigative Unit made headlines recently with a report on allegations of questionable sales tactics used against the elderly by salespeople for Craftmatic Adjustable Bed. This story prompted Missouri Senator Claire McCaskill to call for an investigation by the U.S. Federal Trade Commission. Another report investigated the safety of U-Haul trailers and determined that employees were rarely giving out vital safety information to customers. This story resulted in the CEO of U-Haul offering his cell phone number to be broadcast on air to allow any customer who felt unsafe when renting a U-Haul to reach him personally. Other recent Inside Edition investigations include reports on foreclosure scams, art sold aboard cruise ships and the cleanliness in the restaurants of some of the most famous celebrity chefs.
A two-time Emmy Award winner, Norville joined Inside Edition in 1995 from CBS News, where she anchored “America Tonight” and reported for “48 Hours,” “Street Stories” and “CBS Evening News.” Prior to working at CBS, she hosted the nationally syndicated “Deborah Norville Radio Show,” which was heard on more than 200 stations via the ABC Radio network. At NBC, she served as news anchor and, later, co-host of NBC’S “Today,” positions that followed her tenure as anchor of “NBC News At Sunrise.” She briefly returned to NBC News to anchor the primetime “Deborah Norville Tonight” on MSNBC, while simultaneously anchoring Inside Edition. Inside Edition is produced daily at the CBS Broadcast Center in New York City and produced and distributed by CBS Television Distribution, a unit of CBS Corp.
