DELAWARE, Ohio -- A subdivision is banding together to fight proposed redistricting changes in the Olentangy Local School District.
Orange Middle School is a stone's throw away from the MacCammon Chase subdivision where the families live.
But according to a map of proposed changes, students who live in MacCammon Chase would be excluded from going to school at Orange Middle School, which is literally across the street.
Instead, the students would have to go to a new school six miles away.
"There's the added risk of taking the kids there in traffic every day that doesn't even touch on the primary points which are being involved in our children's activities. What to do with them after school if they want to participate in sports. It's a real concern," parent Glenn Bennison said.
A district spokesperson told NBC 4 administrators cannot comment on specific cases because the redistricting plans aren't final.
But administrators are pouring through more than 400 public comments and trying to make adjustments before the final maps are drawn. The district said it must redraw lines to keep up with growth in the area because the district adds 1,000 students every year. And during the next three years, three new schools will be phased in.

The district said it will make final decisions next month, and staff will make extra efforts to make sure students who are impacted by the redistricting feel comfortable in the new schools.
