WILBERFORCE, Ohio
Comedian and activist Bill Cosby says he'll perform at a concert benefiting Central State University, but only if the southwestern Ohio school raises $2 million for university initiatives.
If the goal is met, Cosby also won't charge a fee or honorarium to perform April 18 in Columbus with jazz saxophonist Boney James and guitarist Jonathan Butler.
The university in Wilberforce is Ohio's only public historically black college.
University Vice President of Institutional Advancement Anthony Fairbanks says $1.3 million has been raised so far. The deadline is April 1.
Cosby is a longtime Central State supporter. He performed in Dayton in 2004 following a university campaign that brought in $1.4 million.
Central State nearly closed a decade ago because of financial and other problems.
