COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Congresswoman Mary Jo Kilroy is spending her first work weekend at home in Ohio, and she started it off by meeting with some of her constituents.
Friday morning, NBC 4 asked Central Ohioans to send in questions for Kilroy through Twitter and Facebook.
NBC 4's Tanya Hutchins took the questions to Kilroy and got some answers.
Kilroy said she wants to help remake America and Ohio, in line with what President Barack Obama said in his inauguration speech.
She met with three women Friday who are directly affected by the economic downturn to hear their concerns.
One woman is an experienced information technology profession, who said she can't find a job.
Shane Haggerty, an NBC 4 fan on Facebook, asked, "How will Ohio's public education system be impacted if the stimulus package does not include funds for our state and … how will you and others ensure that education will be a top priority?"
Kilroy answered, "What I think we're going to see is our schools will get additional money -- money promised by Congress for a long time. They're finally going to see an increase in aid for students with disabilities and autism. Schools will finally see an increase in that."
She said she would also like to see more help for school districts with a high number of students in poverty. She said her office is open to suggestions by phone, e-mail or letters so she can get input from everyone in her district.
