LOGAN, Ohio -- Local law enforcement agencies are looking for a suspect in several crimes that occurred over the past three days.
Detectives said they believe the same man may be responsible for a gas drive-off and the robberies of two carryout stores in Fairfield County, and a break-in in Hocking County in which the suspect stole six guns including an AK-47 assault rifle.
The investigation began with a gas drive-off in Wellston on Wednesday afternoon.
According to officials, a suspect entered The Store and paid for a beverage, but left without paying for gas he put in his truck. The pickup truck was listed as stolen out of Lancaster, officials said.
On Thursday evening, police said, the same suspect may have robbed two carry-outs -- one in Lancaster and one in rural Fairfield County. An alert was issued for the stolen pick-up truck.
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, shortly before 8 p.m. Thursday, troopers attempted to pull over a truck matching the suspected vehicle description in rural Hocking County. The driver of the truck turned down a country road and eventually drove onto private property.
Hocking County Sheriff's deputies said the suspect eventually abandoned the truck. Deputies followed footprints from the abandoned truck to a home a few miles from the original traffic stop site on East Buck Run Road.
Detectives said the suspect broke into the home, which is owned by a Hocking College police officer, and stole cash, guns and a pickup truck.
Law enforcement officers are now looking for the second stolen vehicle -- a blue 1999 Dodge Ram pickup with an extended cab, tinted windows and Ohio license plate DF42AP.
Investigators said the suspect is considered armed and dangerous and should not be approached.
Detectives said they are not certain that the same person is responsible for all of the crimes, but the stolen pickup truck from Wednesday's gas drive-off is the same vehicle that eluded troopers Thursday night.
The suspect from the gas drive-off is described as a male white, 5 feet 8 inches to 6 feet tall with a slender build. He also may have a spider web tattoo on his neck.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Hocking County Sheriff's office at 740-385-2131.
